Q.  Where should I go first to register a vehicle?     

A.  Since auto insurance is required in Massachusetts, you must see an insurance agent before you can register a vehicle.  Your agent will give you the paperwork that you will need.

Q.  Why are the lines at the registry so long?  Is there any way to avoid them?

Q.  How much will it cost me to register a car I just purchased?

A.  A new title costs $75.  New plates are $50.  Plus your 6.25% sales tax.  If the vehicle was purchased from a licensed MA dealership, the 6.25% is based on your purchase price.  If it is a private party sale, the tax is based on whatever is higher - your purchase price or the book value.

Q.  I am a new driver and pay extremely high rates for my insurance.  When will my rates go down?

A.  New drivers will get a discount after 3 years of experience and a bigger discount after 6 years.   But there are ways to save during those early years.  For example, good students (B average or better) and those who have taken drivers education pay less.  Call us to find the best rates.

Q.  Is damage to my vehicle covered if I am at fault for an accident?

A.  Your vehicle is covered if you carry collision coverage.  You are subject to a deductible when at fault.
